Since the early 1900’s, the Sumsion name has been synonymous with asphalt paving in the state of Utah. Valley Asphalt, based in Spanish Fork, Utah was owned by the Sumsion family until 1997 when it was sold to a nation-wide construction company. Through three generations, the Sumsion family had built one of the largest, well-respected asphalt paving companies in the state.
Ryan Sumsion was born and raised around the family business. Through the years, he has had the opportunity of learning the business from the bottom up. Ryan graduated from BYU in Construction Management and for several years worked for some of the largest Heavy-Civil contractors in the Western United States. In 2006, he formed Sumsion Construction with the intention of continuing his family legacy in asphalt.
In that same year, Sumsion Construction purchased Eckles Paving. Eckles Paving was a small asphalt paving company in Utah County. With a service record of more than 15 years, Eckles Paving had contracted with thousands of customers across the valley and had proven itself as a quality, customer-oriented company.
